Interview with Anna Paula Diniz and Marcelo Terça-Nada!

  1. What is the meaning of the office name?

Marcelo: The heart of our work is to do design, it’s from this core that we began to thrive all the other actions: creating concepts, building connections between people and communities, open new markets, grow together with our long-lasting partners.

  1. What were the motivations to create the DoDesign Brasil?

Marcelo: DoDesign Brasil was founded in 2003 in Belo Horizonte city by Anna Paula Diniz and Marcelo Terça-Nada. Anna comes from the Human Sciences with degree in Design, Photography and Journalism along with a wide market experience. I’m graduated in Visual Arts and Photography, with ground expertise in digital communication, art activism, multimedia experiments and web design. We were introduced by a mutual friend, during a contemporary art festival. This friend knew Anna was looking for a partner to work with web development. Our first project was creating a website for an organic coffee farm. However, the synergy between us was so amazing that we couldn’t stop working together. In the beginning, we only accept work for organic business. Quickly, we understand that in order to reinforce the world changing that would like to provide we should also work on projects related to agroecology, socio-biodiversity and fair-trade. We deeply believe in the concepts that guide us. For this reason we always look for customers who share our point of view and want to grow together, we value long-term partnerships. Nowadays we have customers with who we have the pleasure of working for more than a decade. That’s the way we want keep on going.

  1. How is the creative process?

Anna: We work with the concept of tailor-made design. This means that we take care of all the productions details, from the beginning of the project up to the fine adjustments. Just as a tailor, developing unique and detailed products to fits all the needs. Our creative process begins with recognition trip to the customer or communities. Only then we sit, talk and start making sketches. The customers participates in all stages, and together we defining step-by-step the best path to take.
